Security

Security is of paramount importance on the Internet. You may have concerns regarding the safety of your payments and even if we are a legitimate business.
Are my details safe with you?

Yes. We use Lotus Notes by IBM and a dedicated Lotus Domino server to handle the business. Lotus Notes uses public/private key encryption and was designed for military use in the USA. Its security model is at the core of this product and not an after thought like some other systems.

No unauthorised persons have access to the details which are encrypted. We never sell details to anyone and we only contact you regarding orders or genuine queries. We do not and have no intention of sending you unsolicited emails.

Are we a legitimate business? Yes, we are human and do exist. We declare all income and pay UK Taxes to the IR. Click here for our contact details.
What if my order doesn't arrive? UK Mail orders are trackable & you can view the status through their web site. Royal Mail - Contact us and we'll find out for you.
Are my payments safe with PayPal or NOCHEX?

Yes & we've had no problems in 5 years. These companies exist so that you don't have to give your credit card details over the Internet on a regular basis.

More and more peolple are buying on the Internet & major sites such as PayPal & NOCHEX need to make a good impression now, to be in business in the future.

PayPal and NOCHEX are secure Internet Banks. We use them for your benefit as they have invested heavily in security, much more than an independent web site such as us, could achieve.

If you still don't trust the Internet, use the Royal Mail option and send a cheque or postal order or ring us and place an order by phone.

Your site isn't secure (No https, or padlock etc.) We don't need to be because no financial transactions or customer details are handled by our site. Once you have clicked on the product you require, you are immediately passed to Nochex or PayPal who are secure.
Why can't I pay by credit card over the phone ?   Actually, you can. If you know what you would like to order, we can send you a link in your email. All you need to do is click on the link and it will take you to a payment page where you can securely enter your card details and make payment. It simple, secure & you don't need to sign up either.
Buyer Beware !

We all hear horror stories about people loosing money on bogus sites and I am always cautious when I make a purchase from any site for the first time.

Generally, I want know who is behind the web site. In a shop, you can ask someone but on the internet you are reliant on what they tell you. I don't like that, so I look a bit deeper and recommend you do too.

Before I buy, I need to build up some trust & I usually want to know:-

  1. Is it a UK or foreign web site?
  2. Is it a sole trader, partnership or a company?
  3. Will my money be going to a country that I find undesirable?
  4. Who owns the website and what is their address.

Some of you may not know but you can lookup ANY web site on the internet and see who owns it and when it was registered using their web site "Domain" name. This is known as the "Whois" service and I use Pipex, who own 123-Reg.co.uk to do this.

If the web site is honest, they will have a full listing but if there are limited or no details then I think they are hiding something. There is an "Opt Out" facility to hide their details but why do this? Sainsbury's or M&S don't hide their address in the phone book so why do some sites deliberately hide their details ? I am always VERY skeptical of sites that aren't fully listed.

Some state they are a registered UK business but the details suggest otherwise. Although I make many overseas purchases, I always want to know WHO I am really dealing with and I probably think you do too.

Go to the 123-reg website and have a look yourself. You can check us out as well if you wish. We have two domains ukcolloidalsilver.co.uk & uk-cs.co.uk. The first one shows my IT Company name OS.Net Interlan as the registrar and is also shown on the logo at the bottom of each page. In theory, you can go to Companies House web site and get the company details, which of course is me.

This is only a start in being safe online and given time, I will add to this section but remember that you don't get somthing for nothing. Yes you can get bargains but if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is ! Email is NOT secure and their email address (Who sent it) can be set to anything. Beware & be safe but also enjot the internet, its a fascinating place !

We recommend you take the time to register with PayPal or NOCHEX as they are the preferred payment methods on many web sites and is a quick and secure way of paying without having to give out youe credit card details everytime you want to make a purchase.
