• Only use Colloidal Silver made by electrolysis using a constant current power supply (Not battery operated or constant voltage).
• If the product contains the word "Protein" DO NOT USE IT. See below.
• Only use Colloidal Silver that has only been made with steam distilled water (Not deionised, purified, mineral or filtered)
• Never accept Colloidal Silver made with additives, designed to speed up the reaction (Saline Solution etc).
• 99.9% fine silver must be used, never Sterling Silver.
• Purchase from a manufacturer, who should be able to give in depth advice. Suppliers "buy in" & sell for profit and don't have the expertise & many are just looking to make a sale.
• High concentrations could lead to Argyria as the silver can/may/will agglomerate into larger particles & become ineffective.
• Final product must be stored in glass amber bottles never plastic as the shelf life is greatly reduced as the charges on the particles degrade quickly. Why ? See FAQ's for more information.
• Child proof caps for safety - not necessary but a good idea.
• Look for a Quality Mark- Although we are Founder Members of the CSQA, we are waiting to be assessed.

As mentioned above, there is a negative point that you must be aware of called Argyria (In detail below). This is a cosmetic condition where silver collects under the skin and gives the person a silvery/blue look . It isn't fatal but usually associated with the ingestion of silver salts & proteins (Not Colloidal Silver made using the electrolytic process). This was also believed to be a permanent condition but there is an article showing how this may be reversed. See A Cure for Argyria: The Formula

Colloidal Silver is not a controlled drug and as such, quality control is not enforced. Under UK law, Colloidal Silver is classified as a food supplement but it is really a mineral supplement. There is quite a debate concerning strength, colour, manufacturing process etc. & I have spent many hours reading pages & pages of information and the Research & FAQs are a result of that reading. My family and I take Colloidal Silver and I wanted to get to as near the 'Truth' as you can get. I'm sure you do too and I hope the pages on this site are helpful.

Although we sell Colloidal Silver, it is important that you know about the negative side as well, such as Argyria (Below). I'm sure you will look at other sites too, in fact I recommend it but be aware, some sites make claims which seem a "Little exaggerated". You can use a simple method to test the quality of the information by seeing if they mention Argyria or not.

Colloidal Silver is a Colloid. That means it has minute (Silver) particles in suspension (Not dissolved) held in place by electrostatic charges. It MUST have particles to be called a colloid otherwise it is just a silver solution.

Mild Silver Protein/Colloidal Silver Protein.

There are a number of sites selling high concentrations (100 ppm) of Colloidal Silver. I believe this is inherently dangerous if taken internally. Silver is only required as a trace element not to over-saturate the body. That is why we only recommend & sell 10 ppm. This is not an attempt to discredit others but a genuine concern I have as a result of my research.

There are many "Colloidal Silver " products on the market, all claiming to have beneficial effects. Although silver is known to be beneficial, the mechanism by which it is transported (Manufactured and ingested) is very important to avoid certain side effects. These side effects usually refer to Argyria.

In theory, a protein seems an excellent way to transport silver around the body. Unfortunately, it bioavalability** is low and an excessive amount is required to have the same effect, which is why sites selling MSP/CSP advertise a much higher PPM count. **(Bioavailablity means simply the amount that is effective in the body). The excess (Unavailable) silver, floods the body's systems and is difficult to excrete and because of particle size, may get trapped in the epidermal layers leading to Argyria.

Casein is the protein commonly used in the manufacturer of MSP. There are only a few sites selling MSP but fortunately, most of them are quite unprofessional, using insulting & emotive language, & they do not mention Argyria or any side effects but spend most of their time attacking the electrolysis method of producing Colloidal Silver. We are often asked for our opinion on these sites and in response, I have written the following article, "The Dark side of the electrostatic Force".

There is a more worrying side effect by the use of the protein Casein, which can lead to anaphylactic shock (Hypersensitivity) in susceptible individuals. In a comprehensive 1989 nutrition study in China, known as The China Project, Casein was found to have a direct correlation with tumour growth. See Wikipedia article.

To my knowledge, the use of silver salts is no longer used due to the high risk of Argyria.

The editor and authors seem to be extremely knowledgeable and have the ability to express themselves better than I can, which is why I have placed links to many of their articles. This was the only concern we had regarding the use of Colloidal Silver and perhaps the most important point you should research. In fact, we horrified when we first came across "Rosemary's story" (See below) and spent a great deal of time researching the following articles. If you want a quick overview, read this article here.

Note:- Everyone who has a site that is selling something, including us, have a vested interest in calming your fears regarding Argyria but you should retain your right to be sceptical and if you are concerned, read the information below.

Important point: We are fortunate to have free health care in the UK but this is not the case in many other countries, especially the USA, where medical care is extremely expensive. As a consequence, there is a flourishing alternative medicinal industry, as people try and find a cheaper solution to their problems. It is estimated that for every dollar spent on conventional health care, there is an additional dollar spent on alternative products, which is a considerable amount of money. This raises several questions which are answered in the articles below but I do not want to get involved in the political and moral implications that they raise although the repercussions do affect us. If you are interested in researching this line of thought, then the Bolen Reports in the Quackwatch section above is a good start.

Over the years I have seen many articles condemning Colloidal Silver because it causes Argyria. When I looked closely at these articles, they refer to people who have used silver salts or proteins but still refer to it as Colloidal Silver. This is untrue and misleading.

There are two major cases** of Argyria easily found on the Internet and they are Rosemary Jacob's and Stan Jones. Rosemary was most likely prescribed a silver salt, possibly silver nitrate. She has a damning website but it is nothing to do with Colloidal Silver. She is obviously very bitter about what has happened to her & as a result, she blames all Silver products.

Remember the chemical & physical properties of any compound are radically different from the elements they are comprised off.

Elemental silver has unique properties but when in a compound, these properties change. Take two examples. Hydrogen is highly flammable & Oxygen can cause explosive fires and both are used in rocket engines as fuel. But as a compound they make water! Sodium is a soft, highly reactive metal & chlorine is a highly poisonous gas but as a compound, we have common table salt !

Stan Jones freely admits it was his fault he contracted Argyria. He made it with tap water, salt & used batteries. He left the solution to perform a runaway reaction, where the particles would have been too large. Be careful if you make the solution yourself.

According to recent media reports, Silver is being re-introduced into hospitals to help prevent the risk of MRSA infections & other Hospital Superbugs. Silver fibres are being woven into fabrics and even M & S are to start selling silver pyjamas in Autumn 2007. This should help reduce the risk but it seems that a high proportion of infections are being transmitted into blood in intensive care units. Although unproven, Colloidal Silver may reduce this risk further and we highly recommend anyone about to go into hospital, takes the 30 ml therapeutic dose for 5-7 days before going in.

• Colloidal Silver is a pure water suspension of minute nanometre size particles of pure elemental silver & silver ions. Silver salts & proteins are NOT Colloidal Silver.
• There have been no cases of Argyria associated with quality Electrically Isolated Colloidal Silver, only Silver Salts and CSP/MSP.
